Staying Sane in the Classroom: A Beginning Teacher's Guide to Discipline, Organization, and Time Management
The first time I had a practicum teacher in my classroom, we talked for hours about managing students, managing materials, and managing time. I ended up writing this book based on all the things I shared with her.
I gave copies of the manuscript to new teachers in my district, asking them to write comments on the pages. They were supposed to return the books with the comments when they were done with them. So far all the teachers have refused to return their copies. "I'm still using it!" is all I hear.
My district had me teach three separate days of in-service for interested teachers. New teachers, substitutes, and experienced teachers signed up to attend the sessions. They all said they learned so many practical, useful things they could apply right away to their teaching jobs.
